Angel Zhao

Director of Volunteering

Hey there! My name is Angel Zhao and I'm a junior at Havergal College. At school, having participated in multiple opportunities, I'm the Astrology club head, a Curling D2 player, First Violinist in the orchestra, a GLLD member, Duke of Ed Bronze, and an exchange ambassador. I’ve gotten my CASI level 1 as I teach at MSLM for my third year, my Equestrian Canada rider level 6. I’m also studying English, French, Mandarin, Arabic, Spanish, Latin, and Abenaki. Additionally, I'm an integral member of my cozy cul-de-sac neighborhood, in which I babysit young kids and help feed and walk pets. I've also been a long time volunteer at Global Medic, where I pack food.

Our Story

Acrozzi began in 2022 with a simple but urgent question: How can we help students find volunteer opportunities that truly matter to them? Sarah Chi and Valerie Qi, the founders of Acrozzi, started as volunteers in the community, where they found their passion for community service. In particular, Sarah spent hours volunteering with children who have cognitive disabilities, like autism and ADHD, and experienced the joy and challenges of working with kids. At the same time, many of her peers wanted to help but didn’t know how or where to start. The problem wasn’t a lack of willingness, it was a lack of connection. So Sarah and Valerie formed a small team of students to create Acrozzi: a platform designed to connect with youth and the community through meaningful projects and engagement opportunities. What began as a way to share volunteer experiences has grown into a movement that includes tutoring, art programs, musical performances, and advocacy work across Toronto. Today, Acrozzi continues to grow, but our purpose remains the same: to ensure that every young person can find their voice through service, and every community can feel its value.
